Standing Amazed

Lord, Do I Count?
Lord, Do I Count?

One of the advantages of having a few years on our lives is that when we take time to meditate on the present, we see that the seeds of today began to grow years ago. However, we could not even imagine where God would take us, much less have the wisdom to pray for such a future. But now we look back and are amazed at how walking through doors of opportunity, of discovering just the right person at just the right time and of insight through conversation with God and others have moved our lives forward, and also the lives to those around us.

David was probably inspired to write Psalm 8 sitting on the roof of his palace. Now he was raised a shepherd, the youngest child of an unimportant family from the smallest tribe of Israel. In this today he was sitting on the roof of a nice house overlooking the city. A strong wall protected it from its enemies. Children played in the streets, their laughter filling the night sky. Young mothers were suckling their infants and the sound of babies and mom’s chatting filled the air.

As a young man night fall meant being at an encampment separated from women and children and exposed to large cats, bears and hungry enemies. It was a perilous time. Now we was in an important city, safe behind the walls. He could see how the skills he had learned as a child and young man prepared him for today, but how amazing it was. And it was not just blessing for him, but for so many of his people who had gone from being everyone’s victim to a nation you did not want to mess with.

When have you sat amazed at where God has taken you, your family and those around you?

Judgement and Freedom

I made a comment about fear of pain in one of the threads and got an interesting response from several people. So I thought I would put a question out there, how do you deal with a sense of being judged negatively and do you experience freedom to be in the present as a result?

So since everyone participating in the blog is a person and knows both freedom and interference from the past, how do you sweep out your closet and what do you put in its place?
